We are now pleased to offer sports/deep tissue massage at Muscle Up Gym performed by coach Kuba.

This is a form of manual therapy which is suitable for a wide range of people, not just active sports people, or those in training but also those who have stress and soreness from busy daily activities. It is extremely effective in loosening tight muscles and breaking up adhesions or knots in muscle fibres. It is based on the philosophy that direct techniques can reduce pain, enhance healing and restore and/or maintain optimum muscle function.

The techniques used by Kuba will be tailored to you,  your activities, symptoms and preferences. Your treatment may include:

  • Deep tissue massage
  • Stretching
  • FAT Tool (Fascial Abrasion Technique Tool)
  • Soft tissue release

This therapy is ideal for the active or sports person and can be incorporated into part of your long term training programme. It can reduce soreness, and help improve your physical performance and flexibility. It aids in the healing of sprains and injuries and can help your recovery following a sporting event.

This is also perfectly suited to treat muscle pain and soreness suffered by those in an office environment, sitting in the same position for long periods or carrying out repetitive tasks. It can loosen areas of stiffness and revitalise aching limbs.

30 Minute Session | 45 Minute Session | 60 Minute Session

A little while ago, 10 year old gymnast Eva who is one of a regular and talented members asked if she could use our facility to host a charity event she was planning.  We were very happy to help make this happen and agreed. We then found out what Eva’s charity event would be and we were shocked yet excited for what she had planned!

An 8 hour gymathon consisting of calisthenics, gymnatics, freerunning and various other fitness elements all in aid of  Crohn’s and Colitis UK!

This event will be taking place at Muscle Up Gym on Sunday 29th May 2016 from 9am-5pm. It is open to anyone to come cheer Eva on or maybe even join in 🙂

A little about why Eva has decided on such a tough test for raising money and awareness for Crohn’s and Colitis UK:

Eva’s Dad has suffered with Crohn’s Disease for the past 17 years and sadly in that time no cure has been found. Eva has seen her Dad go through bad times with the disease and is taking on this personal challenge to help find that cure.

For those that know Eva they won’t be surprised to hear that she loves a challenge.  Well, Eva has certainly set herself up for a BIG challenge. She has come up with an 8 hour gymathon of calisthenics training which uses gymnastic elements to build up strength, endurance, agility, balance and flexibility . This will push Eva to her limit and would be a massive challenge for anyone let alone a 10 year old!

The facts:-

Colitis and Crohn’s are bowel conditions which can have a devastating impact on every area of life and currently have no known cure. Around 300,000 people in the UK have Crohn’s and Colitis, and more than half are diagnosed when young. Please support Eva by sponsoring her in this challenge.
Please feel free to donate to this event and cause via the Just Giving link below:

After introducing our Movement For Kids class we have had some inquiries for similar classes for older kids.

So guess what…we will be bringing another new class to Muscle Up Gym…Movement For Teens.

Again, like the kids classes this class is also “coming soon” due to legal reasons so it is just a case of holding tight until we receive the thumbs up (fingers crossed, mid-late January).

One thing we love at Muscle Up Gym is member feedback whether that be good or bad so that we can ensure we evolve in the best way possible. Since opening in October 2015, there has been one occurring question….”are you going to run classes for kids!?”

With that said, the initial storm from opening the gym is now finally starting to settle so along with it also now being a new year we felt it would only be right to now offer classes for kids!

As you may of noticed from this post heading, these classes are “coming soon” which is mainly due to legal reasons so it is just a case of holding tight until we receive the thumbs up (fingers crossed, mid-late January).
